Chile Adjusts to Standard Time as Clocks Fall Back One Hour

Time Change Implemented on Sunday, April 7th at 00:00 AM

Different Time Zones Across Chile

On Sunday, April 7th, Chile transitioned from daylight saving time to standard time, marking the official end of summer in the Southern Hemisphere. At precisely 00:00 AM local time, clocks were rolled back one hour across the country, including Easter Island.

Chile observes three distinct time zones: Continental Chile (UTC-4), Easter Island (UTC-6), and the Juan Fernández Islands (UTC-3). The time change affects all three zones, ensuring a consistent alignment of time throughout the nation.

Time Differences Compared to New York

The time difference between Chile and New York varies depending on the time of year. During most of the year, Chile is one hour ahead of New York. However, during Chile's standard time period (April-September), the time difference becomes two hours.

For example, when it is 9:09 AM in La Serena, Chile, it is 7:09 AM in New York. However, during Chile's daylight saving time (October-March), the time difference reverts to one hour, and it becomes 8:09 AM in New York.
