Conte Leaves Spurs After 'Selfish' Performance
After a heated exchange with players, Antonio Conte has departed Tottenham following their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.
Conte, who had managed Spurs since November 2021, accused his players of "selfishness" and "not understanding what it means to play for this club."
The Italian manager, who has won league titles with Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan, was visibly frustrated after the match and made his feelings known to his players in the dressing room.
"I'm disappointed and angry," Conte said. "I see selfish players who are not interested in the team. They only care about themselves."
Conte's departure comes at a critical time for Tottenham, who are currently 11th in the Premier League table and face a crucial Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday.
It is unclear who will replace Conte as Tottenham manager, but the club is expected to make an announcement in the coming days.
