Up to 30 individuals currently detained may be released in a significant prisoner exchange, according to the PolitikaKozlov newsletter.
President Biden has indicated that the United States is receptive to a prisoner swap to secure the freedom of Evan Gershkovich, a Jewish American journalist incarcerated in Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei V Lavrov stated on Wednesday that the two countries are engaged in discussions regarding a potential swap involving Mr. Gershkovich.
The proposed prisoner swap, if executed, would mark the largest of its kind. It remains unclear whether all 30 detainees will be included, but the potential for the release of political prisoners, including Mr. Gershkovich, is a positive development.
