RMU Golf Returns to Action at Red Bandanna Invitational
Colonials Open 2023 Spring Season in South Carolina
Robert Morris University's golf team will tee off its 2023 spring season this weekend at the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Furman University at the par-72, 7,069-yard The Reserve at Pawleys Island in Pawleys Island, S.C. The 54-hole tournament will be played over three days, beginning with 36 holes on Sunday, Feb. 12 and concluding with the final 18 holes on Monday, Feb. 13.
The Colonials are coming off a successful fall campaign that saw them capture the title at the Bucknell Invitational and finish among the top three in three of their five events.
Senior Nico Lang will lead the way for RMU. Lang, who was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Golfer of the Month in October, is the Colonials' top returning scorer from last season. He earned All-NEC Second Team honors in 2022 after posting a 74.13 stroke average.
Junior Noah Rasile and sophomore Jack Gianniny are also expected to contribute for RMU. Rasile finished second on the team with a 74.91 stroke average last season, while Gianniny played in all 10 events and posted a 75.80 stroke average.
The Colonials will face a tough field at the Red Bandanna Invitational. The tournament features 15 teams, including six that are ranked among the top 100 in the Golfstat national rankings.
RMU will be looking to make a strong start to its spring season and build momentum heading into the NEC Championship, which will be held April 28-30 at the par-72, 6,902-yard Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Md.
